Recycling

Each member can assist in reducing refuse spilled at the southern landfill sites.

Our recycling takes place every second and last Saturday of the month between 09:00 and 11:00 in the parking area at the Fichardt Park library.

Paper, plastic, tins, and glass can be placed in one bag. All materials should be clean and dry before recycling them.

What can I recycle?

You can recycle a variety of materials, including:

Paper:
Newspapers, magazines, cardboard, office paper, and junk mail.

Plastic:
Bottles, containers, jugs, and some types of packaging.

Glass:
Bottles and jars (typically clear, green, or brown glass).

Metal:
Aluminium cans, steel cans, and clean aluminium foil.

However, it’s essential to check your local recycling guidelines as they may vary. Some communities accept additional materials like certain types of plastics, electronics, batteries, and more. Proper sorting of recyclables according to local regulations helps ensure effective recycling and minimises contamination.

  • We have an established recycling programme specifically for Fichardt Park since October 2013.
  • We maintain 23 parks and 6 nature parks within Fichardt Park and its borders. We do preventative maintenance on our sewer system quarterly.
  • Less than 2% of all crimes reported monthly at Park Road Police Station are reported in Fichardt Park.
  • Members get a discount on monthly fees from our SLA security companies.
