Research has shown that community involvement impacts highly on safety in a neighbourhood. The FNA is striving to promote healthy values in the community, like good citizenship, honesty, hard work, pride, cleanliness, etc. Residents are encouraged to utilise the common property in the neighbourhood and not lock themselves up in their homes. Activity in the neighbourhood also limits criminal activity. Suspicious persons should be reported immediately to the security managers. Each resident should take ownership of the immediate environment, like maintenance of the pavement, picking up litter and caring for Fichardt Park assets, etc. The community should also take ownership of the children, protect them and provide value-driven leadership.
